Michael has over 25 years experience in law enforcement and currently hold a master peace officer certification.

He has been a TCOLE certified instructor and firearms instructor since 1997.

He had the opportunity to work many different assignments during his career including patrol, bike patrol, Field Training Officer, EOD/Bomb Squad, Mobile Field Force/SRT, SWAT, Crime Prevention Officer, background investigator and recruit training coordinator at departments' training academy.

He spent over 13 years at the academy as the lead DT instructor, recruit firearms instructor, less lethal options instructor (Taser, OC, baton, 40mm impact munitions), pursuit driving instructor, fitness and nutrition instructor and active shooter instructor (CRASE & AAIR train the trainer).

As the lead DT instructor he held instructor certifications in several systems including PPCT, LVNR train-the-trainer, carotid neck restraint, Gracie Survival Tactics level 1 & 2, Controlled FORCE level 1 & 2.

He also served on departments' use of force review board. 

 

He has been training in the martial arts for over 35 years. he began training in martial arts when he was 8 years old in Shito Ryu Karate, but had to quit when I was 10 when my family moved to Texas. In 1986, at the age of 19, he began training under Michael Bussey in Ninjutsu. He earned his black belt 3rd degree and instructor certification under him. In the late 90's he began training in Judo with Ace Sukigara, trained in Judo until he found a jiu-jitsu academy and began his journey in 2016.

Now Michael is a blue belt training under Joao Gabriel Rocha at Double Five Dallas and is the Instructor to our L.E. Program.
